Bolivia coffee
Bolivia may be in the middle of South America, but it produces very little coffee compared to its neighbouring countries. It has only been systematically cultivated and processed since the late 20th century. Yet they have managed to supply the world with coffee of high standards. The credit is due to the excellent natural conditions beneficial to coffee growers and development programmes that provide farmers with the necessary knowledge and skills.
The vast majority of Bolivian coffee comes from the provinces of La Paz, Santa Cruz, El Beni and Yungas. Arabica coffee bushes (Typica, Caturra, Criollo, Catuai) are planted at an altitude of 1200-2000 metres. Farmers harvest the fruit between July and November, most often processing it by the ''washing'' method.
