Nicaragua coffee
Nicaragua is a newbie among coffee producers, but it seems to have a great future in this respect. The local coffee impresses with its balanced flavour profile, smooth body, medium acidity and flavours of caramel, citrus and chocolate.
The first coffee tree was brought to the country in the late 18th century, and the coffee trade did not fully open until fifty years later. Coffee trees producing extraordinary beans can be found at altitudes above 1,100 metres. The vast majority of all Nicaraguan shrubs grow in the shade.
