Nicaragua SHG Jinotega EP Grade – Roasted Coffee

Code: 380

Caribbean on one side, Pacific on the other. In its center, the Cordillera ranges and bubbling volcanoes... Nicaragua is anything but boring, just like the coffee we brought back from the country. The hilly northern region produces coffee with balanced acidity and an excellent aroma. Central American highland coffee has notes of dark chocolate and oranges. You'll love it!

Taste & Crema

Fragrant wood, dark chocolate and almonds – we've discovered all this while sampling this Nicaraguan coffee. Rest assured, you'll also find a complex, full-bodied, low acidity and fruity aftertaste. Grind your coffee properly, and you'll be rewarded with a thick and elastic crema that lingers in your cup until the last sip.

Origins

Jinotega, nicknamed "the city in the mists," is located 160km from the Nicaraguan capital Managua. The mountainous region is defined by a relatively cooler climate and large rivers. The soil is rich in minerals and the hills are densely forested. The fact that coffee is harvested at a higher altitude is reflected in its SGH classification.

In Nicaragua, the Caturra variety is one of the most popular. It is harvested from November to February and processed by washing. The ripe coffee cherries, which contain two coffee beans each, are put into water and pressed together with the water using special equipment to remove the pulp. The beans are then left to ferment in fermentation vessels. The grains are washed again. Drying takes place in the sun. Finally, the coffee is sorted according to size and quality. After packing it in 60kg sacks, the farmers take it to the market. The price is determined by the size of the beans, the origin, the variety, as well as the appearance and sensory characteristics.

We roast the coffee just before it is shipped to you. Only then will it retain its rich aroma and deliver a perfect experience. Hermetically sealed packaging with a one-way valve prevents the loss of valuable aroma.

Flavour and aroma

More sparingly roasted coffee offers a richer and more complex flavour profile. It retains more authentic nuances specific to the growing region, including fruity, floral or nutty notes.

Health benefits

In particular, quality coffee roasted to its ideal profile may contain higher levels of antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid and other phenolic compounds. These substances have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Unroasted premium coffee is also gentler on the stomach, as it contains fewer acids that can irritate.

Environmental friendliness

Plantation coffee is often grown with greater respect for the environment, with an emphasis on sustainable cultivation and fair trade, which can have a positive impact on growers and their communities.

Coffee packaging preview

Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.

Instructions for preparation

Grind your coffee according to your preferred method.
Use 14ml of water per 1g of coffee. For 1 cup of coffee use 7g.
