Taste & Crema

Andes is one of the favorite coffee regions of many a barista. When ground correctly and prepared carefully, it produces a delicious drink with a unique flavor. The crema is lighter, compact and dense. You can identify the sweetness of chocolate and fruit in the taste. The body of the coffee is rich, smooth and pure, with a slightly nutty aftertaste.

Origins

South America's third largest country has been cultivating coffee plants (Coffea arabica) since the 18th century. Among the farmers are descendants of the Incas, who owned the territory until five hundred years ago. Today, they live mainly in the Andes, and many of them are farmers. Up to 98% of Peru's coffee comes from small farmers. They establish and maintain small fields in forested areas and difficult terrain. For this reason, most of their production is organic – the high cost and complexity of transporting fertilizers and industrial sprays to the plantations is a major limiting factor for small family farms. The best quality beans are exported by Peru to Japan, the USA and Europe.

Coffee lovers particularly appreciate varieties grown in the high Andes, which is also the case with this 100% arabica Peru Andes from the province of Puno with Lake Titicaca to the north. The processing of the coffee begins as soon as the cherries are harvested (which takes place several times a year). Peruvians more often use a more expensive but more sophisticated method – the so-called washed method. Fruits the size and appearance of cherries are pushed with water through crushing plates to remove the pulp and skins, then fermented and dried. After sorting, the green coffee beans are packed into jute bags and taken to the market.

We roast our coffee only after you order it, to keep it fresh and fragrant for as long as possible.

Flavour and aroma

More sparingly roasted coffee offers a richer and more complex flavour profile. It retains more authentic nuances specific to the growing region, including fruity, floral or nutty notes.

Health benefits

In particular, quality coffee roasted to its ideal profile may contain higher levels of antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid and other phenolic compounds. These substances have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Unroasted premium coffee is also gentler on the stomach, as it contains fewer acids that can irritate.

Environmental friendliness

Plantation coffee is often grown with greater respect for the environment, with an emphasis on sustainable cultivation and fair trade, which can have a positive impact on growers and their communities.

Coffee packaging preview

Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.

Instructions for preparation
