Pure green coffee doesn't taste very strong. When you make a brew, you'll get notes of mild green tea, and some may find the drink reminiscent of a weak bean infusion. A much more interesting experience awaits if you decide to roast these beans at home. Colombia Supremo Medellin gives its best when roasted to medium. If all goes well, you'll be treated to exotic fruit and chocolate notes, a strong body, and tasteful acidity.
Origins
Villa Maria is a farm with plantations set high in the mountains. It is located in the Caldas region, through which the massifs of the West Cordillera and Central Cordillera pass. The fertile soil, frequent rains, and cooler temperatures are ideal for coffee trees. As a result, the fruit takes longer to ripen and accumulates much more flavor than if it were grown in the hot lowlands. Around half a million smallholders in Colombia grow coffee trees. Yet the country is the 3rd largest coffee producer in the world.
Colombian coffee is very popular in the US, Japan, France, Germany, and Italy. Coffee trees have been grown by Colombians since the late 18th century, and today the National Federation of Coffee Growers, known for its marketing campaign using the character of fictional farmer Juan Valdez, is dedicated to the production and export of coffee. The image of the farmer and his mules with sacks of coffee on their backs denotes exclusively Colombian coffee production. It highlights the specificities of Colombian coffee and the fact that the soil, altitude, variety, and processing method are factors of its great taste. Colombia Supremo Medelin green coffee beans can be used in several ways.
For fans of experimentation, they offer the option of roasting your own coffee at home. There are a number of ways on how to do this. Some recommend roasting in a pan, others in the oven. There are also experiments with a popcorn machine. The surest way, however, is to use a small personal roaster. A drink rich in antioxidants, caffeine, and chlorogenic acid (CGA) can also be made from whole green beans. The grains should be boiled, the infusion strained and the liquid enjoyed no more than twice a day.
There is, of course, also the option of using the grains to decorate small items. What you choose is up to you.
