Benefits of apple
One apple a day keeps the doctor away. That is the old Welsh saying, and it is clear that the people of the British Isles know what they are talking about. And we can only be glad that the apple does not fall far from the tree - at least we are sure where to find it.
Perhaps no other fruit is involved in so many folk songs, proverbs or phrases as the apple. And no wonder. Who would not love biting into this sweet, crunchy fruit?
Apples are the fruit of the apple tree, a well-known deciduous tree found throughout the temperate northern hemisphere. There are many species of these trees, but only the native apple tree (mallus domestica) produces apples. In spring, it is covered with beautiful pinkish flowers and attracts insects to pollinate with its intoxicating scent. There are many varieties of apples, with different skin colours and ripening times from summer to late winter. Golden and Red Delicious, Jonathan, Idared and Granny Smith are probably the most popular representatives.
The apples are excellent in all processing methods. Whether you bite into them straight away for a snack or have a glass of fresh cider, you can never go wrong. And you cannot forget a strudel or a bun. Another favourite of many is the crucible, a dried, thinly sliced apple that retains its juiciness and is a healthier variation for munching in front of the TV. In addition, dried apples are wonderful in tea blends, to which they add a wonderful flavour, and can be enjoyed without any restrictions.
