Benefits of caraway
Ayurveda simply knows what is good. Fortunately, we learn from it very quickly. That is why we no longer add cumin only to bread, boiled potatoes and garlic cake. After all, that would be a great pity, given all it has to offer.
Cumin root is a small biennial plant that produces achenes. It is easily found throughout Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa. The cumin is dried achenes a few millimetres in size with a crescent shape.
It is one of the most popular spices and plays an integral role in Indian, Russian and African cuisine. It is often confused with Roman cumin, which, although it also has many health benefits, looks and tastes different. It is finer than classic cumin, and its flavour is sharper and more intense, often overpowering other ingredients in dishes.
Cumin is also used here mainly in gastronomy and in the production of spirits. It is also used in folk medicine. It has been used to prepare an oil that has been gratefully used by women since time immemorial. It is also well known and, for some, very tasty, with its delicate yellow colour and typical aroma. It is popular in tea blends and promotes breastfeeding - not only to increase lactation but also to soothe the baby's tummies.
