Benefits of fennel
If any vegetable deserved a monument, it would be fennel. New mothers will agree on that. It is the one that is responsible for the fact that babies do not worry so much about their tummies and can happily explore the world.
Many of us think that fennel is more of a spice than a vegetable. We most often encounter it as a bag of seeds that scent and flavour all sorts of drinks, sauces and salads.
The truth is, however, that fennel resembles a peeled onion or kohlrabi with its tuber and dill with its stem.
It is an herb native to the Mediterranean, where it grows wild. It can also be found in parts of Asia. When you taste it, you can feel a pleasant sweetness with a hint of liquorice. It is widely used in Italian, French and Greek cuisine.
Although it is a single plant, paradoxically the seeds have many more benefits for our health and appearance than the rest of the fennel.
Their infusion has a typical aroma and taste and can be easily sipped without further flavouring. However, if you suffer from an allergic reaction to, for example, coriander and other aromatic spices, be careful with consumption.
