Linden - a massive tree, yet it has subtle leaves and flowers so delicate and fragrant that it makes your head spin. One of the symbols of the Czech nation fought for a long time with the oak tree, but the linden won in the end. It deservedly won its position.
The linden is a predominantly European tree, although you can also find its different kinds in Western Asia and North America. It thrives in temperate climates and can live up to 600 years. In the Czech Republic, you will most often find the large-leaved and heart linden. The flowers of both are used in dried form for infusions with a naturally sweet taste that you will not even want to add sugar or honey to them. The great thing about its flavour is that even children love it. Many parents know how hard it can be to get their little ones to drink something healthy, and this tea makes it easier with its sweetness. The yellowish flowers have an intense but pleasant aroma. They attract insects to pollinate, and it has to be said that lime honey is one of the most popular.
You do not have to drink the infusion warm. In summer, a cold version with lemon slices, for example, is wonderfully refreshing. Its use can be long-term, but people suffering from heart problems should consult their doctor.
