Benefits of Maral root
If a plant chooses Siberia for its growth, it must undoubtedly have great strength within itself to cope with the conditions there. And that is what Maral Root has.
The name maral root derives from the maral deer that feed on it in southern Siberia. Maral root (in Latin Rhaponticum carthamoides) is a typical adaptogen of this region and adjacent Kazakhstan and Mongolia. It reaches a height of less than two metres. It is a perennial thistle-like herb with purple flowers and a short branching root. According to natural medicine, the root with its characteristic scent carries the most health benefits. To make its harvesting more accessible, maral root has begun to be purposefully cultivated in other parts of Russia as well as in some Eastern European countries. The dried, chopped root can easily be made into a tincture or infusion. It can be drunk or added to baths.
There are no known side effects when consuming moderate amounts. Nevertheless, its use by pregnant and breastfeeding women or young children should be consulted with a doctor.
