Mistletoe is a parasite that grows in the treetops as a semi-parasitic shrub. Its health benefits have been known since ancient Greece. The Celtic Druids even considered mistletoe sacred. Today, its well-known symbolism is often limited to the traditional kiss under hanging branches.
Only white mistletoe can be found here, but there are many more species worldwide.
To describe it briefly, it has twigs with opposing leaves that clasp a tiny berry. It originated in Europe and the American continent but has also made its name in traditional Chinese folk medicine.
From time immemorial, mistletoe has been used to make tinctures or its berries and dried leaves are added to tea blends. That is also the case today, but only trace amounts can be found in tea.
