Benefits of sea buckthorn
The sacred fruit of the Himalayas and the healing salutation of the Gods. You can find sea buckthorn under these names. A plant that has conquered traditional Chinese folk medicine. And in recent years, in a good way, it has also infatuated the Western world.
Ayurveda took it under its wing an incredible 5,000 years ago. Chinese folk healing took a little longer, but 2,000 years is still more than respectable. The fame and popularity of sea buckthorn is, in short, powerful. This plant has its home in the regions of China, Nepal, Tibet and Mongolia. Only in recent decades has it been discovered for cultivation by the rest of Asia and the Western world. Today, you can also find it in Czech gardens. In Poland, it is also protected.
Sea buckthorn is a mature shrub or tree with bright orange small fruits. These are popular not only for the described effects on our health and the content of many beneficial substances but also for their taste. The fruits are pleasantly bittersweet and are perfect for making syrups or marmalades. The pressed oil is popular in cosmetics and pharmacy. The vibrant berries can be dried easily, so the fruit is often used in tea blends. When consuming, keep in mind that sea buckthorn is rich in vitamin C (reported to be up to 10 times more than an orange). So be cautious, especially when taking medications where increased vitamin C intake is not recommended.
