Taste & Crema

The India Robusta Parchment AB organic coffee brings forth a delightful chocolate flavor complemented by a dense and luscious crema. Its exquisite taste profile has made it a favorite for coffee producers around the globe, finding its place in diverse blends suitable for home brewing, restaurants, and cafes. The chocolate undertones and robust crema provide a rewarding experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Origins

Wayanad, a picturesque district in the northeastern part of Kerala, India, is the birthplace of this robusta coffee. Its economy relies heavily on agriculture thanks to its scenic bodies of water, towering hills, and abundance of wildlife. Coffee (and tea) dominate local agriculture, supplemented by crops like cocoa, pepper, vanilla, rice, coconut, cardamom, and ginger. The intertwining of coffee plantations with fruit trees and spice gardens contributes to the unique aroma reflected in the coffee's taste and smell. A striking aspect of this robusta coffee is its organic cultivation. Grown and harvested without industrial fertilizers or sprays, it ensures a clean and pure flavor free from potentially harmful residues. The wet method, or washing, is utilized in processing. It involves soaking the coffee cherries in water and pressing them through crushing plates, followed by fermentation and drying in tumble dryers or under the sun.

Coffee cultivation in India dates back to 1670, with the first plantation established around 1840. Formerly focusing on arabica, Indian growers switched to robusta following a coffee rust epidemic that devastated arabica plants. Supervision of plantations and export quality have been overseen by the Coffee Board of India since 1942. Nowadays, about 250,000 farmers participate in coffee cultivation, with 98% being local farmers. Indian coffee holds approximately 4.5% of the global market, exporting mainly to countries like Germany, Russia, Spain, Italy, and Belgium. The India Robusta Parchment AB BIO coffee tells a story of a rich agricultural tradition infused with the fragrances of fruit and spice gardens shaped by the lush landscape of Wayanad. Its chocolate notes, dense crema, and organic cultivation make it a sought-after choice for various coffee blends and brewing methods. The centuries-old history and commitment to sustainable practices provide a backdrop that enriches each cup, connecting the drinker to India's vibrant coffee culture and scenic beauty.

Flavour and aroma

More sparingly roasted coffee offers a richer and more complex flavour profile. It retains more authentic nuances specific to the growing region, including fruity, floral or nutty notes.

Health benefits

In particular, quality coffee roasted to its ideal profile may contain higher levels of antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid and other phenolic compounds. These substances have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Unroasted premium coffee is also gentler on the stomach, as it contains fewer acids that can irritate.

Environmental friendliness

Plantation coffee is often grown with greater respect for the environment, with an emphasis on sustainable cultivation and fair trade, which can have a positive impact on growers and their communities.

Coffee packaging preview

Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
