Adaptogenic Hot Cocoa – Vanilla tastes pleasantly, mildly sweet. It's chocolatey and velvet, with a subtle trace of vanilla that makes the entire impression milder and rounder. Cocoa makes the body of the beverage full, cinnamon adds a slightly spicy note, and vanilla gives it a smooth, creamy finish. The adaptogens – maca and ashwagandha – don't disturb the flavor at all. On the contrary, they give the drink a subtle depth. Each sip feels balanced, warm, and naturally calming.
Origins
While cocoa and cinnamon are traditional ingredients, maca and ashwagandha add a functional dimension to this blend that goes beyond the ordinary taste experience. Each ingredient has its own story, origin, and spectrum of naturally occurring compounds that account for its popularity.
Maca, a root plant from the high-altitude regions of the Peruvian Andes, is rich in B vitamins, minerals (iron, calcium, and zinc), and bioactive compounds, including alkaloids and phytoestrogens. It is these compounds that are responsible for its reputation in supporting hormonal balance. Maca is traditionally associated with fertility, sexuality, and menopausal comfort.
Cinnamon, obtained from the bark of tropical trees of the genus Cinnamomum, is valued not only for its characteristic aroma but also for its content of antioxidants and essential oils, particularly cinnamaldehyde. This unique compound contributes to normal blood sugar levels and supports digestion. Cinnamon also contributes to the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system, respiratory tract, and intestines, while also supporting the normal condition of the skin and mucous membranes. In traditional medicine, cinnamon is also used to refresh the body overall.
Ashwagandha, sometimes referred to as 'Indian ginseng', is one of the best-known adaptogens in Ayurveda. It contains withanolides, compounds with significant biological effects associated with the body’s resistance to stress. It contributes to mental health, relaxation, and overall balance. It's also associated with the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system, reproductive health, and the respiratory system, and acts as an antioxidant.
Combined with cocoa, a natural source of flavonoids and mood-improving compounds, this creates a beverage that blends rich flavor with functional benefits.
