Colombia Tumbaga Excelso Sugarcane Decaf – Roasted Coffee
During the pre-Colombian period, the old jewelers used to make various treasures with copper and gold. Tumbaga meant merging two completely opposite worlds into one – and this notion of unity carries over in this Colombian gem. It’s full of flavor yet contains near to no caffeine, and each gram possesses sweet tones of chocolate and refreshing fruits. Tumbaga Sugarcane is more than coffee – it’s the art of joining the seemingly incompatible parts into one harmonious whole.
Ingredients
100 % ArabicaTaste & Crema
This Sugarcane Decaf keeps all the good parts of any Colombian coffee. The taste profile is full of sweet chocolate and caramel tones followed by slightly sour fruitiness. The EA Sugarcane decaffeination method further enhances its natural sweetness and reduces the acidity. This coffee offers a silky, rich crema with a light hazelnut color. Thanks to the special decaffeination process, Tumbaga sugarcane decaf keeps its natural oils which make it look even more enticing – and has a long-lasting crema.
Origins
Tumbaga Sugarcane Decaf comes from the best coffee regions of Colombia, such as Tolima, Cauca, Antioquia and Eje Cafetero. The regions are known for their diverse geography and unique microclimates, which create ideal conditions for growing high quality coffee. The high altitudes of 1 200-2 000m, tropical climate and slow ripening of the coffee cherries ensure that each bean delivers an extensive flavor profile. Colombian coffee is valued worldwide for its balanced acidity. The Tolima and Cauca regions are particularly known for their refreshing flavor and sweet notes, while coffee from Antioquia brings subtle hints of chocolate.
The coffee beans are gently decaffeinated via the EA Sugarcane process, which uses natural ethyl acetate derived from sugar cane. The process not only effectively removes the caffeine, but helps preserve the coffee's natural flavor profile, allowing it to remain sweet and smooth. The beans are first soaked to open up their structure, making it easier to extract the caffeine. They’re then submerged in a mixture of water and ethyl acetate, which binds the caffeine molecules and helps remove them. Then the beans are rinsed thoroughly to remove any ethyl acetate residue and re-dried to their original moisture level. This process leaves the caffeine content at 0.1% while maintaining the subtle, natural flavor nuances. The result of this careful process is a coffee that retains its rich chocolate, caramel and fruit notes, but remains smooth and balanced.

Coffee packaging preview
Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
