Origins
Although coffee has only been grown in Guatemala since the mid-20th century, it is one of the best ones on the market. This Central American country has excellent conditions for growing coffee trees. The temperature ranges between 16-32°C, and the coffee plantations are situated at altitudes of between 500-5,000m. From around 1,500m, farmers must plant coffee bushes to protect them from the cold northerly winds. However, the long and slow ripening of the coffee berries, together with the unique composition of the soil, yields excellent results. Coffee grown high in the mountains tastes extremely interesting.
Guatemala's Mataquescuintla region began to focus on coffee cultivation in the 1980s. The coffee trees are grown almost exclusively by small farmers, and virtually every farm in the greater Mataquescuintla produces coffee by hand in the mountains from October to March. The fruit, red berries resembling cherries, must then be picked and processed. To do this, the farmers use what is known as the wet process. They pour the berries into the water and push them through crushing plates. This removes the skin and some of the flesh. They then dump them into so-called fermentation tanks. The remaining skins and pulp are dissolved in these tanks within a few days. Finally, the green coffee beans need to be dried. If the weather permits, this is done in direct sunlight. The farms operate in organic mode, which means that they grow, harvest, process, and package the coffee with respect for the environment. They do not use industrially produced fertilizers or sprays.

Coffee packaging preview
Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
