Honduras Genuine Marcala – Roasted Coffee
Don't let this Central American treat slip under your nose. Let yourself delight in the coffee from Honduras, too. We were particularly impressed by its layers and playful combination of sweet caramel with fresh fruit. Some people taste figs, others pomegranates. Either way, plantation coffee from Marcala is worth a try.

Origins
Coffee from Honduras is not among the most known in the world. Yet, its popularity is steadily growing. The country, neighbored by the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, is the largest coffee exporter in Central America. Most of it is covered by mountains with an average altitude of 1,000m. Agricultural land occupies 15% of the country's land area. Unfortunately, the political situation in Honduras is turbulent, making it very difficult to trade with it. Most of the coffee production ends up on the commodity market.
The Marcala region is located near the borders with El Salvador and Guatemala. The plantations at altitudes above 1,500m are cultivated by small farmers. They process the fruit of the coffee plant (Cofffea arabica) by washing, which removes the pulp and part of the skins. Each coffee cherry contains two beans. These need to be fermented, which removes the plant mucilage, and dried. In Honduras, the coffee is dried exclusively in direct sunlight.
All coffee is roasted moments before it's handled and shipped to you. Freshly roasted coffee guarantees you will be able to enjoy all of the distinctive flavors and great aroma.

Coffee packaging preview
Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
