Ingredients
100 % ArabicaTaste & Crema
The two capital A's in the name of this plantation selection assure us that we will encounter larger-than-usual beans. We've assigned the maximum number of stars to both intensity, quality and beans. The roaster processes the coffee with a suitable roasting process, giving the coffee its full body and complex flavor, in which we find citrus, cherry, jasmine and wine. The crema is darker, compact, and light.
Origins
About 70% of Kenya's coffee comes from small-scale production. There were an estimated 150,000 farmer-operated coffee plantations in the country in 2012, and the coffee industry employed 6 million people.
The Republic of Kenya is located in East Africa, off the coast of the Indian Ocean. It is best known to tourists as an area of national parks full of attractive wildlife. For lovers of quality coffee, Kenya is a place of a number of high-quality arabicas. Important plantations can be found around the Kilimanjaro volcano, but also in the central Kenyan highlands – the Nyeri region. The small coffee farms in the area are organised into cooperatives, which helps them in processing the harvest and marketing. However, the focus is always on quality, which is why we find 99% high-quality arabica and only 1% low-quality robusta in the Kenyan coffee segment.
The fruit of the coffee trees is only picked when ripe, several times a year (sometimes up to seven times in a row). Constantly going through the plantations and picking the finest cherry-like fruit ensures that the best coffee is harvested.
Processing is done by washing. The whole berries are placed into water tanks, pushed through crushing plates and the loose seeds – the coffee beans – are fermented. This is followed by drying, sorting and packaging.
Benefits of coffee
Coffee packaging preview
Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
