Ingredients
Cocoa powder BIO, Cane sugar BIO, Natural aroma BIOTaste & Crema
Hot cocoa powder with 42% cocoa and a pinch of cane sugar tastes very delicious, warm and soft. The mint flavor gives it an attractive but unobtrusive hint of the popular herb.
Origins
One of the world's finest cocoas comes from the Dominican Republic. The Caribbean nation is renowned for its agricultural production, with farm workers making up 20% of its population. They usually grow sugarcane, bananas, cotton and the very cacao tree (Theobroma cacao) cocoa is made from. These are evergreen trees up to 8m tall that thrive in tropical areas. They have felted branches, long leaves and bloom twice a year with pinkish-white flowers. The fruit of the cocoa tree is an oval yellow berry, striated on the surface. The white flesh contains 4-14 seeds, known as cocoa beans. Once removed, they are left to ferment, then dried and roasted, ground and processed in factories. The result is cocoa butter and cocoa powder. Incidentally, it was Louis XIV who first brought it to Europe in the early 17th century. Cocoa and cocoa beverages were known to the indigenous people of South America for several hundred years.
The other ingredient in this hot cocoa is cane sugar from Paraguay. Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) is one of the main crops of the local agriculture. The tall grass with stalks up to 5cm thick is harvested either with machetes or special machines. It has to be processed within 24 hours, as its sugar-rich flesh spoils quickly. The cane is pressed and the resulting liquid boiled. When cooled, light brown crystals are formed, i.e. cane sugar.
Both raw materials, cocoa and sugar, come from plants grown under organic farming. Therefore, they do not contain any harmful substances or residues from fertilizers or chemical sprays. The third ingredient is also purely natural. In fact, it has the fact in its name: natural mint flavoring is made from real mint plants. It is a completely safe substance that does not cause heartburn or other similar discomforts.
This mixture may contain milk residues, people with lactose intolerance should consume carefully.
