Robusta India Monsooned – Roasted Coffee
Strong and bitter. Indian robusta is coffee for the mature palate. It is appreciated during long journeys, monotonous meetings, or long night shifts. Don't worry though, underneath the harsh taste lies a flavor of dark chocolate, and the crema is amazing. Use robusta as a base for espresso or blend it with arabica for a fantastic flavor combo.

The advantage of Robusta India Monsooned is a beautiful crema – dark and tall. When you put a teaspoon of sugar on it, it stays on the surface. This coffee scores further points due to its high intensity and caffeine content. You can easily detect the characteristic tangy bitterness in the taste. Acidity is medium to low. The aftertaste hides hints of chocolate, so you can enjoy something sweet.
Origins
Robusta is the faithful companion to arabica coffee. The coffee plant (Coffea canephora) is native to the tropics and subtropics. Its fruit, like that of the Arabica, is a drupe the size and appearance of a cherry, with two coffee beans hidden inside the flesh. The caffeine content is higher than that of arabica, at 1,5-3,3%. Magundi is a locality in the Indian state of Karnataka.
Located in the southwest of the country, the climate is influenced by the summer monsoons. Forests cover 20% of the area. Coffee cultivation is common in the mountainous regions of India, and the processing of coffee beans is a globally unique process. After harvesting the ripe coffee fruit, farmers press them through crushing plates to remove the pulp. After fermentation and drying, they place the coffee to expose it to the monsoon. Up to seven weeks of whipping the beans with cold wind and rain give them their original flavour and aroma.
India exports most of its coffee to Europe, the US, and Japan. About 250,000 farmers, 98% of whom are smallholders, take care of production.
