Salted Caramel coffee is based on Honduran coffee from the Marcala region, which is considered the best in Honduras. Its flavor has a pleasant caramel notes with hints of tropical fruit. We've enhanced its caramel-iness with a few drops of natural flavoring before roasting. The result? A sweet and savory coffee, which is fresh and delightful.
Origins
The beans used for this coffee come from the traditional Honduran coffee region of Marcala. It is worth noting that Marcala boasts the first-ever protected label declaring the origin of coffee.
Honduras is one of the largest coffee producers in Latin America. In 2017-2019, its farmers contributed about 7.5 million 60kg bags of coffee to the global total. Coffee is a crucial commodity for the country's economy and has been since the late 19th century when a significant number of small coffee plantations were established in Honduras. The natural conditions are favorable for growing coffee trees, although farmers struggle with frequent rains in some areas, making it difficult to dry coffee on concrete terraces. As a result, many processors now rely on solar dryers or greenhouses.
In the Marcala region, plantations are planted at 1,200-1,600m altitudes, and local workers harvest coffee cherries from December to April. They process them by washing, that is, by pouring the fruit into water tanks and pressing it through sheets to remove the skin. The coffee is then transferred to barrels (again filled with water) and left to ferment for several hours. The natural process dissolves the pulp enveloping the green coffee beans. These eventually need to be dried, sorted, and packaged. When the coffee arrives this way, the roaster tests it several times by roasting it at different lengths and temperatures.
Once he has achieved the ideal process, he dusts the green coffee with a carrier oil with a natural aroma before roasting. During the roasting process, the aroma is incorporated into the beans, thus lasting longer and with greater intensity in the coffee.
Making Flavored Coffee in an Automatic Coffee Maker
|
If you intend to make flavored coffee in an automatic coffee maker with a tray, we recommend checking the instructions for the coffee maker to ensure this is possible. If the machine manufacturer does not provide any information on flavored coffee, follow these recommendations: The natural aroma in this coffee may react with the plastic in the tray and cause it to spot on prolonged contact.
Apply same rules when grinding flavored coffee in both manual and electric grinders. |

Coffee packaging preview
Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
