Origins
For those who have not visited Sicily, here is a brief introduction to better understand what inspired us to flavor this Peruvian arabica. The island of charming contrasts – that is how Sicily is described in many book guides. You can wander through quiet villages or head to the bustle of ancient cities. You can climb Mount Etna or spend a day on the beach. You can eat in the finest restaurants or pick an orange by a country road. It will be blood red inside, and its juice will keep you refreshed. Sicily is simply a little paradise. Journey there through a cup of Sicilian Orange coffee. We must thank dozens, maybe hundreds of people for its amazing properties. It all starts in the high mountains of Peru, where farmers grow coffee plants (Coffea arabica). They are mostly small farmers, each tending just a few hectares of land. Yet together, they manage to produce around a quarter of the world's coffee. Between May and September, they head out to the plantations to harvest the ripest coffee berries.
They must transport them (usually on their backs or with the help of mules or donkeys) to the processing site. The cherries are poured into water and pressed through crushing plates to remove the red skin. The coffee beans, still coated in the yellow-white pulp, are left to ferment in fermentation tanks. The pulp dissolves, and the beans are released due to a natural chemical process. The green coffee thus obtained is dried either in direct sunlight (with frequent turning) or in drying ovens. Workers pack the coffee into 60kg bags, transport it to the stock exchange, and load it onto planes or ships. When the coffee arrives here, it receives the care of our roaster, who has to test each batch beforehand and determine the best temperature and roasting length. In the case of Sicilian Orange coffee, he sprays the green beans with a carrier oil with a natural aroma (which is safe and does not cause any health problems) before roasting. The aroma is stored deep in the beans and will last for many weeks if the coffee is stored properly.
Making Flavored Coffee in an Automatic Coffee Maker
|
If you intend to make flavored coffee in an automatic coffee maker with a tray, we recommend checking the instructions for the coffee maker to ensure this is possible. If the machine manufacturer does not provide any information on flavored coffee, follow these recommendations: The natural aroma in this coffee may react with the plastic in the tray and cause it to spot on prolonged contact.
Apply same rules when grinding flavored coffee in grinders (both manual and electric). |

Coffee packaging preview
Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
