Taste & Crema

The Honduras Finca la Hacienda coffee has a fresh, fruity aroma and flavor, which the juicy fruits also infuse. You may recognize peaches or green apples, some may identify grapes and tropical fruits. The floral acidity, accentuated by chocolate sweetness, makes this coffee an absolute gem.

Origins

The region of El Paraiso can be found in southern Honduras, near the border with Nicaragua. It mostly lies at altitudes of 1,000-1,400, with relatively high average annual temperatures of 16-22°C. The local coffee is most famous for Oscar Daniel Ramirez Valerio, whose production is of exceptional quality and has been successful in international competitions. Honduras accounts for less than 4% of the world coffee market. The coffee bushes are usually planted on mountain slopes – ''fincas''. Farmers focus on arabica, with Bourbon, Caturra, Typica, Pacas, and Catuai varieties. The fruit is harvested between November and April and processed by washing. Previously, coffee grown in Honduras was mainly found in blends. However, in recent years it can be purchased as pure plantation coffee – and is one of the most sought-after. The farm in El Paraiso is dedicated to single-variety arabica of the Catuai variety. It has a balanced, sweet, and citrusy flavor, a soft body, and pleasant acidity. The variety itself is typical of Central America. It was introduced in Brazil in 1972. It is derived from the Guarani coffee plant and was created by crossing Yellow Caturra and Mundo Novo. In Honduras, almost half of all arabicas are of the Catuai variety. The shrub itself is smaller in stature, the fruit is yellow or red and holds well on the branches. That is an advantage in areas with strong winds or rain.

Flavour and aroma

More sparingly roasted coffee offers a richer and more complex flavour profile. It retains more authentic nuances specific to the growing region, including fruity, floral or nutty notes.

Health benefits

In particular, quality coffee roasted to its ideal profile may contain higher levels of antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid and other phenolic compounds. These substances have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Unroasted premium coffee is also gentler on the stomach, as it contains fewer acids that can irritate.

Environmental friendliness

Plantation coffee is often grown with greater respect for the environment, with an emphasis on sustainable cultivation and fair trade, which can have a positive impact on growers and their communities.

Coffee packaging preview

Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.

Instructions for preparation

Grind your coffee according to your preferred method.
Use 14ml of water per 1g of coffee. For 1 cup of coffee use 7g.
