Tanzania Bukoba Robusta – Organic Roasted Coffee
Robusta, often described as the rougher and less complex counterpart of arabica, will surprise you when you try this variety from Tanzania's Kagera region. While it is true that robusta contains more caffeine, this particular one counters the bitter taste with impressive smoothness and richness. This organically grown coffee from Tanzania has a flavor full of nuts, chocolate, a pleasant creaminess, and a medium sweetness. It's a must-try for any coffee lover.
Ingredients
100 % Robusta BIOTaste & Crema
Robusta Tanzania Bukoba coffee brings an unexpectedly smooth and delightful experience. There's easy-to-detect notes of chocolate, hazelnuts and honey, along with a creamy and lasting aftertaste. Unlike many robusta coffees, the acidity is almost absent, lending to its approachable character. The crema, characteristic of robusta, is high, beautiful, and firm. This coffee excels as an espresso but also performs exceptionally when brewed through a filter or an Aeropress, making it versatile and engaging.
Origins
Coffee plays a major role in Tanzania's economy as the most vital export crop. Annually, Tanzania exports around 40,000t of coffee, with robusta making up about 30% of that total. Most Tanzanian robusta originates from the Bukoba area in the Kagera region, where organic Robusta Tanzania Bukoba is sourced.
Historically, coffee is believed to have reached Tanzania in the 16th century from Ethiopia. In the Kagera region, the local Haya tribe used coffee beans in unique ways, such as boiling, steaming with herbs, and chewing them. Coffee even became a form of currency, strictly controlled by tribal chiefs.
Kagera, which lies near the equator, and borders Lake Victoria, offers a natural bounty and ideal conditions for growing coffee. The region's farmers often cultivate coffee alongside other crops, benefitting from the shade and nutrients provided by intercropping. The Tanzania Bukoba Organic Robusta is cultivated by farmers affiliated with Kaderes Peasants, an organization founded in 2008 to ensure fair buying conditions and support local education and healthcare.
These farmers embrace organic farming methods, earning their harvests Fair Trade certification and organic labels. Processing includes washing and drying the beans in direct sunlight on clean tarps, with frequent raking to prevent mold and achieve the perfect moisture content. Careful sorting before packing ensures the quality of the coffee.
Robusta Tanzania Bukoba is a testament to the rich heritage and sustainable practices that Tanzanian coffee growers embrace. Its engaging flavor profile, beautiful crema, and versatile brewing options make it a unique addition to the coffee landscape. Its origin story, marked by historical traditions and contemporary commitment to community welfare, adds depth to every cup, connecting the drinker to a world of flavor, culture, and conscientious cultivation.

Coffee packaging preview
Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
