Origins
Uganda is quite remote for Europeans, which is why it is always worth learning more about it. For example, its coffee is top quality and its farmers are working hard to become self-sufficient.
The Republic of Uganda, in whose history Europeans and Arabs have played a significant role, is situated in the eastern part of Africa. It's a landlocked country, with several mesmerizing bodies of water such as Lake Victoria and Lake Edward. The climate is tropical, with an average altitude of 900m. Uganda is known as the Pearl of Africa for its incredible natural beauty. The Imatong Mountains are home to a vast array of endemic plants, with deciduous forests, grasslands and bamboo thickets covering the plains. Almost half of the world's mountain gorillas live in Uganda's Bwindi National Park. Queen Elizabeth National Park provides a sanctuary for African buffalo, hippos, elephants, and chimpanzees.
In the eastern part of Uganda, near the Kenyan border, lies the Bulambuli district. There, at the foot of Mount Elgon, the coffee trees cultivated for this coffee grow. In 2022, a processing station was built in Bulambuli and the NKG Bloom Silverblack cooperative was formed, bringing together over 1,000 coffee-producing members.
The coffee cherries are harvested manually by the farmers. They pour them into water, remove the poor-quality ones and use special mechanisms to strip the remaining fruit of its flesh. The loosened coffee beans are left to ferment for 12-72 hours, washed in clean water and transferred to raised racks to dry. This takes, depending on the weather, 21-28 days. During drying, the crop must be turned frequently to prevent it from becoming moldy.
And why does the word Silverblack appear in the name of the coffee? As a reminder of the silverback gorilla males. They are majestic, responsible and caring.

Coffee packaging preview
Our quality aluminum packaging lacks any bold graphics, as we’d rather focus on the taste of our coffee. It always comes fresh thanks to degassing valve, which releases the gases that occur after roasting. Thanks to the hermetic seal, this container helps the contents further keep their freshness and protect them against humidity, light or foreign odors.
