Taste & Crema

Green coffee tastes pleasant to some people, while others have to get used to it. It can be described as mild, slightly sweet, and a little acidic. The addition of ginger gives the coffee an attractive spicy note. Green coffee does not produce any foam.

Origins

We import high-quality green coffee from Central America. One reason is the great relationships we have established with local farmers, and the other is the coffee processing method. Central American coffee plantation owners prefer the so-called wet or washed method. It is a costly and time-consuming process, but the end result is very fresh-tasting coffee with a fruity to floral aroma. The flavor is due to the fermentation in water and also the almost immediate removal of the pulp of the coffee cherries.

The washed process (fully-washed, wet-process) begins by placing the coffee berries, which resemble cherries in appearance and color, into large water tanks. 130-150l of water are needed to produce 1kg of coffee. The berries are pressed in the water with crushing plates to remove the pulp. The farmers then place them into special fermentation vessels. The fermentation process is crucial to the final quality of the coffee. Most often, coffee is fermented for 36 hours, but it must always be monitored to make sure it doesn't start to rot. A few bad beans and the whole batch is damaged. The beans then need to be dried while not letting them to mold. The whole process is completed by packaging and exporting the green coffee to markets.

Dried ginger and natural ginger flavoring have been added to the green coffee. It is completely safe for your health, containing no synthetic fragrance carriers or heavy metals.

Green coffee benefits:

Unroasted coffee beans contain many more health benefits than its roasted counterpart. This is because they have not been subjected to high heat, so there is no decrease in antioxidants or caffeine content. The essential chemical for which green coffee is so popular is chlorogenic acid. Effects of chlorogenic acid, referred to as CGA are:

  • promoting breakdown of fats,
  • preventing the conversion of sugars to fats and flushing them from the body,
  • accelerating the burning process and promoting weight loss as well as reducing appetite

Caffeine in green coffee:

  • reduces fatigue and improves concentration,
  • contributes to mental and physical vitality;
  • relaxes muscles, relieves pain and stress and increases performance.

The ratio of CGA acid is 100,000mg/1kg. Green coffee has antibacterial properties, reducing the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Drinking green coffee also reduces feelings of hunger.

CAUTION: Green coffee beans are very hard and require a top-quality grinder to grind them. Green coffee can damage commercially available machines. Therefore, we grind the coffee only coarsely. We recommend preparing the beverage by simply pouring boiling water over the ground coffee or using a French press.
