Coffee beans - 100% Arabica
A plantation coffee has the exact place of birth specified on its birth certificate. Knowing the country of origin, the region and, preferably, the plantation from which the beans come is the basis of good orientation and a way of getting an idea of its quality. It is the choice of those looking for a superior standard, certainly not settling for the average. No name blends from the big chains are usually a lottery bet.
Experience the world through exclusive coffees. 100% arabica guarantees exceptional flavours.
What is Arabica
Arabica is the bean from the Coffea arabica coffee plant. High-quality coffee has conquered the world with its lower caffeine content and a wide range of delicate flavours and aromas. Plantation arabica coffee beans grow at higher altitudes (600-2000 metres above sea level), reach 3-5 metres and produce their first crop after 6 years. Due to its popularity, it is grown on most plantations and accounts for 75% of the world's coffee production.
The fruit, which resembles cherries in colour and size, is usually harvested several times a season. They are processed either by washing, dry or semi-washed methods. The result is green coffee beans. These are either roasted or sold in their natural state. Arabica is very sensitive to changes in temperature, so roasting must be approached gently and with respect for the specifics of the variety.
The Arabica coffee plant has many varieties, each characterised by a different aroma, flavour, aroma, appearance and bean size. The most common varieties are Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, Mundo Nuovo, Maragogype, Pacamara and Geisha.
Main growing areas
In general, the higher the altitude, the more aromatic the coffee. When making your selection, you can follow a simple division of the world's plantations into three areas.
- The Americas (Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, Haiti). It captivates you with traces of fruit, chocolate, vanilla, and nuts, and is often earthy to delicately bitter.
- East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania). Its coffee has a distinctive and fresh taste, a slight sweetness, and can be reminiscent of dry wine. African plantation coffees are characterised by high acidity.
- Pacific region (Java, Sumatra, New Guinea). Plantation coffee is often rich and full-bodied. Its aroma can be spicy to pungent.
